Lookups work similar to imports, but more powerful—lookups help you pull information from another source based on the data you already have on your spreadsheet. They are similar to vlookups for Google Sheets, but without the added complexity of opening umpteen tabs and writing long nested formulas.

When should you use Lookups instead of Import?

Say you've already imported some data from a Google Sheet and now you would like to compare them with data from another Google Sheet. For instance, if you have downloaded your ad metrics from Facebook and your traffic data from Google Analytics and want to arrange them together by date. That's a simple situation where lookups come in handy!
